The Motion Picture Association of America filed suit against two of the largest Bittorrent search engines, Torrentspy and Isohunt earlier today. Also named were torrent hosting sites Torrentbox, Niteshadow, and Bthub.
Curiously, the MPAA might have a difficult time proving their case against Isohunt and Torrentspy ,as they do not actually host the torrent files.
In a move to bring more subscribers to it’s broadband offering, AOL announced a $2 increase in its traditional service. The increase brings it in line with AOL’s broadband offering at $25.90. (Via BetaNews)
With that price alignment, who wouldn’t make the jump to broadband? AOL says they have about three-quarters of its members still on dial-up and has suffered a reduction of subscribers of 30 percent recently.
Still, I see AOL dial-up as a viable solution for those less tech-inclined or for those who need access very limitedly. However, increasing the price for those that are happy with plain dial-up is not the way to increase customers, or even retain them.
